Ensure that concerned depts strictly enforce laws and submit ATR on day-to-day basis : Home Minister Jadeja

Home Minister of Gujarat state Pradipsinh Jadeja has directed DGP Shivanand Jha and ACS A M Tiwari to ensure that oncerned departments strictly enforce laws relating to prohibition, drug use and cow protection and submit Action Taken Report (ATR) on a day-to-day basis.
State minister is said to have sought an explanation from department officials on the low rate of conviction of bootleggers and why very little action has been initiated against those involved in peddling drugs and narcotics in the state. Officials are said to have informed the minister that there is lack of accountability in some cases as agencies like the Special Operations Group (SOG) report to both the ATS and local police. Jadeja convened a separate meeting to evaluate implementation of the newly amended cow protection act. Although stringent provisions have been added to the Gujarat Animal Preservation (Amendment) Act 2017, the on-ground implementation of the act has not been satisfactory enough, officials said. “On the basis of feedback received from animal rights groups, the minister expressed dissatisfaction over enforcement of the act and directed officials to ensure its strict implementation,” said the official.
