Thailand’s shows readiness to participate in the Global Centre for Traditional Medicine GCTM to be established in Jamnagar and to exchange methods of AYUSH

The Ambassador of Thailand to India Ms. Pattarat Hongtong and the delegation paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar. During the meeting, she expressed Thailand’s readiness to participate in the Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) to be set up by WHO and the Ministry of AYUSH in Jamnagar, Gujarat and to exchange AYUSH-Ayurveda methods. In this regard, the Ambassador of Thailand told the Chief Minister that, even in Thailand there is a hospital for AYUSH methods and Ayurveda treatment.

Not only that, even Ayurveda product companies are also operating in Thailand, Thailand is also keen to take full advantage of this world class centre of Gujarat. There were discussions in the meeting regarding the possibilities of partnership with Gujarat especially in the fields of pharmaceutical sector, renewable energy, tourism and e-vehicle. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel also discussed the need to promote the tourism sector between Gujarat and Thailand, citing the role of Thailand as a major tourist destination and Gujarat as a state has many tourism diversities, which includes Statue of Unity.

CM further said that, there are advanced institutes like Forensic Science University, Energy University, GCTM in Gujarat, where youth from Thailand can come to study and research under the Student Exchange Program. The Chief Minister also elaborated on the fact that Gujarat has become a destination of choice for investors of the world with its best ecosystem of infrastructure, connectivity etc.

Taking advantage of this ecosystem, CM expects that, various companies and industries from Thailand to come to Gujarat, especially for investments in Dholera SIR, Chief minister said. The Thailand Ambassador also said that they are keen to move towards signing a MoU to further strengthen relations with Gujarat in the field of trade and commerce. She further said that, about 1.6 billion U.S dollar has been exported from Gujarat to Thailand and FDI of 29.5 U.S million dollar has been generated in Gujarat by Thailand in recent years. She also said that, Thailand’s engagement with Gujarat would give a new impetus to Thailand-India-Gujarat relations.

The Ambassador of Thailand also extended a heartfelt invitation to Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel to visit Thailand. The Chief Minister invited the Thailand delegation and Ambassador to visit the Statue of Unity.

In this courtesy visit meeting Additional Chief Secretary to CM Shri Pankaj Joshi, Industries Commissioner Shri Rahul Gupta and other senior officials were present.
